Hello reader,
I am a new user to kdenlive and I do experience some problems. I wanted to make transitions between 2 video clips and used an effect to fade out/in the video ("dissolve"? i am using the German version so I'm not sure what it's called for the english version. It's when you grab the upper right or left corner from a video clip in the timeline). So to make an easy workflow for me i thought i make presets within the effect for different values...like fade out with duration of 1second, 2seconds etc... the same I also did for the audio fade out. In the beginning it seemed to work but now when i choose a preset from the dropdown list it doesn't have my saved values anymore. Instead it might be at "0" or at some other random number or it is blank. Also I noticed, that the value that is noted in the effect window doesn't correspond with what the visualization at the clip shows (again, I mean the markers that you can grab from the upper left and right corner from the clip). I tried restarting or starting a new project with different clips but it doesn't change anything. Also the shown effect properties belong to the right clip (it's not like I clicked on a different clip or something)... double checked it all... As I am new to the program I wonder if I'm just doing some stupid mistake or what the problem is. Has anybody experienced something similiar or knows a solution to this? Thanks and greets already. btw I am using version 20.12.2 on W10. |

Each clip in the timeline has a green/red dot on top left/right. Click on this dot the fade length is added which is set in settings -> configure Kdenlive -> misc -> fades.
If you like to have different length as default, do the following: add fade to a clip, in the Effect/composition Stack window adjust the length, click on the 3 stripes and save the effect with a good name i.e. "fade in 3sec". In the effect window, 4th icon from left (show all custom effects) all your saved fade effect are listed. Double click a saved effect will add it to the clip. |
