I am pretty new to video editing in general and especially with kdenlive. I have a lot of experience with photo editing but video seems a totally different (and confusing) world.

I have a bunch of short trailcam videos (each 10-30s) that I want to compile into one video. I have added the clips to the timeline but now I don't know how to do the following:

- Add the same transition between all parts. doing this manually piece by piece is pretty time consuming and imprecise. I have tried copy/paste of an effect but it didn't seem to work. Multi select of transitions also doesn't seem to work. Ideally I would like to automatically the same transition.
- When I delete a subsection of a clip there is a gap in the timeline and I have to move everything to the left. Is there a way to close these gaps automatically?

You should be able to copy and paste a transition with ctrl c ctrl v. For effects, you can copy all of the ffects on a clip and paste them all by right clicking -> paste effects. You cna also add a shortcut for that. You can also drag/drop a single effect onto another clip.

You can select multiple transitions by holding shift.

To my knowledge, you can't add transitions automatically, but i never looked into that. I want to say though that I think it might look weird to have the same transitions so many times in a row.

You can move everything right of a clip by pressing the M key to get the spacer tool. You can also do shift + X to remove a timeline zone (there's an icon on top of the timeline too)

Thanks! Learned a lot.

Try adding a similar transition in every part. I did it manually for editing my YouTube thumbnail video. It is a bit hectic to add in every part but this is the only way you can do it.
