Title, don't see an obscure to make obscure last for a duration, only the entire video

Unless you put the obscure effect on the master effect it is only for the clip not the entire video ;-)

I suggest to cut the clip into pieces and then apply the effect only to those pieces. I agree it would be easier if there were keyframes for the obscure effect but until that is available you need the cuts.

Hope this helps

What do you mean by master effect?

The master effect is an effect (stack) that applies to entire video track. You can access the master effect stack by clicking on the icon in the video track header that looks like a magic wand.

if you are not able to obscure a single piece of cutted video, probably you have placed the obscure effect directly on the CLIP (on project bin)
you have to load the CLIP... place it on the timeline... made some cuts where you want to hide something... and place the effect directly on the "cutted" part of the video...

P.S. right now on the nighlty builds of Kdenlive there is a new effect called : "spot remover" that looks a little bit more "modern"
