I either use transform or position and zoom to move something out of the recorded video, a watermark, but when I do it leaves a dark patch at the top. Is there any way to remove the dark line across the top? Basically, resize the recorded image to match the actual image size.

can you provide a screenshot about the issue? i can't understand... (BTW have you tried using "compositions" to place the watermark .. and not an effect?)
P.S. my watermarks are usually done using TRANSPARENT PNG images... are you using same format? |

You need to zoom into the video, which you can do with both transform and position and zoom, just change the zoom factor there

the difficulty with those solutions are that certain graphics I need for the video will go off screen. when I zoom in whats on either side of the face, the graphics that compliment the message will disappear. disappointed that there isn't something else |

I had to read the OP twice to understand what you are trying to do: You have a video clip that has some sort of watermark or logo in it and you want to remove or not show this. So far you have zoomed in on and moved the clip so that the watermark goes off screen but then it a) moves other important parts and information off screen, and b) leaves black areas on the screen. is this correct?
If my assumption is correct I am afraid that there is no other option except for blurring or otherwise obfuscating the watermark or logo while keeping the zoom factor and position of the clip. With kdenlive's toolset this is doable albeit with some effort, and it will be visible. After all, watermarks and logos are put into a video clip for a reason. So perhaps a combination of blurring/obfuscating and moving and zooming the clip may be the acceptable compromise.
This forum will soon be archived and you won't be able to interact with it anymore. Please use KDE Discuss instead.

Yes, you are correct. I don't know why the provider suddenly started putting watermarks in the video because I had used the service before without any watermarks appearing. I guess the policy must have changed or something. OK, thanks for your words I'll try and blur out the watermark. |

so i read it again too, and maybe you want to change the resolution ?? like make the whole thing shorter in height ? you can do that by changing your project settings
