Hi all,
I wish to add animated stickers from e.g. Tenor like for example this arrow: https://tenor.com/view/strawberrystyle- ... f-14707806 but I am not figuring out how to do it in an efficient manner. I would also like to be able to have it as a single clip so I can easily change its duration and I can apply effects like Transform to resize, rotate, etc. only once without too many copy/paste. Is there a simple way to do it? |

Not sure I fully understand what you are trying to achieve. But assuming that this "sticker" will pop up during the video I suggest you put the sticker on a separate track. As long as the position and size doesn't change every time it pops up you can apply a transform effect to that track.
If the sticker pops up at different positions and sizes there is no other way than to apply transform (or other) effects to each occurrence of the sticker. It needs to be on a separate track in order to overlay the main video. Hope this helps ...

Thanks for your answer. It didn't help but you made me to discover an amazing feature: you can add effects on the entire track! I was not aware of it and I find it very cool! Back on topic: I found out that you cannot directly import .gif files (= animated sticker) as they are. That would require some sort of implicit framerate matching between your project settings and the .gif animation that is most likely not supported by KDEnlive (it is however a feature available on e.g. inShot). BUT what I found out is that you can breakdown your .gif into a sequence of images (in .jpg, .png, or whatever format you like) and place them into a folder. There are a number of online tools that can breakdown a .gif into a number of images. Then, you can import such a folder as an "Image Sequence" into your project and decide how many frames you want each image to be displayed. At this point, you can drag & drop the image sequence from your Project Bin to your timeline and then apply all the effects that you want, like for example Transform to resize, rotate, and so on. It's not super smooth but at least you have full control of what you are doing. It would be handy a feature to connect to e.g. Tenor (as we already do e.g. with Pexels) and get .gifs that can be readily imported in the KDEnlive Project Bin. |

usually to have multiple animation cicles (animated GIF have just one) it's necessary to "concatenate" multiple GIF of the same type.. .it can be possible using image editing softwares or with online tools .. for example i loat the same gif 10 times on sites like "gifmaker" and export the final result (10 times looping GIF) and use it on Kdenlive. (this to not place 120 or more clips on timline just to have aN animated watermark (this slow down a lot the timeline preview)

Got it. If you import the "Image Sequence" it will look like just as one clip both in the project bin and when you add it to the timeline. A nice to have could be do drag & drop the gif and make it arbitrary long or short just by dragging its beginning/end and push/pull it directly from the timeline as you would do with a movie clip. It may be an idea for some future release. |

yep.. i was thinking to propose some kind of "feature request" but ... animated GIFs are something that maybe need to be managed by image editors (like Krita?)
BTW right now i'm creating long GIFS and after that using FFMPEG i'm converting them to MOV ffmpeg -i original.gif -movflags faststart -pix_fmt yuv420p -vf "scale=trunc(iw/2)*2:trunc(ih/2)*2" output.mp4 to have multiple ways to manage them as a video clips (speed changes... transcoding... and remove the "transform" effect to have transparencies) this is an example of animated gifs converted to MOV and used as "sprites" : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-4gVXr_JVo |

Is there any place where to issue "feature request"? I actually have a couple (very very simple but very very handy) |
