hi,
I am using Kdenlive Version 20.12.3 on my Linux laptop. I have two issues.

1- I have a picture and want that kdenlive may show the picture scrolling from Top to bottom. Just like we scroll a web page with a mouse wheel. For that purpose under effects," Transform ,Distort and Perspective" there is "Transform".
There is also the "Position and Zoom" effect. I am confused about both of these effects. In which situation I can use it? Though boot seems the same but there will be definitely a difference in them.

2- I want to Zoom in and Zoom out a particular area in the picture.

Thanks

you can use position an zoom.. transform... crop scale tilt... or "compositions" like composite and transform .. everyone of this effect is able to move or zoom a clip, on Kdenlive they are all standard effects right now.. but maybe on future 1 or 2 of them will be blacklisted as "obsolete/incompatible"..someone uses the red squared selection tool on project monitor.. someone uses coords inserted using keyboard... you can use what you want the final result is the same.

why there are to much similar effects? because on years and years some effect was added (a new efefct) and old one was not removed because users have them on old project.. orm maybe because they like old effect and not the new one (maybe there is a bug on some situations)...
also applying the same effect 2 times on a clips can decrease quality too much (i filled a bug about this: https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/issues/630 ) and using 2 different effects the final output is better...

usually i use the "transform" effect BTW.

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply about my problem.Appreciate you. I have tried the effects which you have mentioned but the "Transform" effect is close to my issue. Actually, I see the effect in the youtube video. Definitely when you can watch you will be in a better way to guide me that which effect was implemented for it or it is a combination of effects. I think that in the forum it is not the right place to paste the link. I need your kind permission for it. Is it possible to inbox you the link?
Thanks.

For scrolling end tittling? End credits?
And more https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... ng+credits

The most easy one is to create a 1280 by 4000 or so (space to scroll) image, and let this one scroll from (outside) buttom to (outside) top.
And if this is not enough then another same image after that. And another, and another ... (at need).

Thanks a lot for guiding me. Well, The thing which I want to do in Kdenlive is I want that there is a picture and I zoom in first and then slowly Zoom out.
Just for your easiness, I am pasting a tutorial link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67RKPQvyI0c
Here you can see in the video from duration 2:55 (jump into zoom in and 2:56 it zooms out very slowly) till 3:03 (time duration ). After that at 3:26 it zooms in again and then Zooms out very slowly till 3:46 time.

The purpose of the link here is only to express what I want and how kdenlive will fix it. I hope that now I am in a much better way to explain my problem. I want to use the same kind of effects using Kdenlive.

Position and zoom then. Super easy.

Use these buttons to use them as some kind of simular 'presets' for start. In the yellow circle in the image.
The red one for instance is 'centre horizontal' and the blue one 'centre vertical'. The other are allign bottom, allign top, etcetera.

Image Click for large

If you use the same values at the set points (position AND zoom) then they will be the same. I use it very often ;)
And you can use the block with cross in the middle of the preview to freely position at wish.
Is this clear enough?

Nice help. Appreciate your guidance :) . Just adding one more effect that very closely matches my query. Just for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5h2JugFlGU
Watch 0:02 to 0:13 Sec Duration of the clip.
Here you can see the picture is scrolling and it uses a smooth dissolve effect. It is a still picture but the effect shows that it is scrolling. So here which effect do you suggest for Kdenlive " Position and zoom " or something else?
Thanks in advance.

Dissolving can be done in many ways. Of which some are basic in kdenlive, or can be done with different plugins.
Which to choose depends on what/where/how you want to dissolve.
So position and zoom, and on that the dissolving edit where wanted.

The one in the video you showed is an often used very easy way, and can be done with the simple basic 'dissolve' function over 2 track.
The more time you let those tracks overlap those two tracks, the longer they take to dissolve over each other.
See in this image how to. (Oplossen = Dissolve in my language ;) )

Image click 4 large

I can advise you to look at some good kdenlive tutorials to learn such basics. Enough to find, and explaned in many ways fitting for everyones joy.

Thanks "zolder" for your kind reply and for guiding me. Appreciate you. I read the help from kdenlive as well. I have learned a lot but still, need good practice to work. Things are much clear now.
By using the "Position and Zoom" (Zooming only) effect I keep my picture by zooming out the picture up to 20% adding a keyframe and then at the end I again add a keyframe with 300% (zoom in). Yes, this time it moves slow and works according to my need.

For positioning purpose I add a keyframe using Zoom In 200% (Then press Align bottom) and then add a keyframe at the end using same Zoom in % which was 200%.One thing I have noted that the distance inbetween two keyframes reduces the speed of positing movement & vice versa.

One last thing I want to ask that is there any live chat forum related to kdenlive ? Sopeople may join the chaat room (kdenlive) and discuss/share their knowledge.

Once again thanks a lot for guiding me.

Nice to hear you've got it. Thanks for the feedback.

As you can see. The advice i always give.
Simply search and try. Meanwhile you will also not find what your looking for, but you will discover other stuff you didn't know. So you'll learn 'double' trying. ;)

There is a Telegram group where the devs also hang out. Very interactive. Then there is a /reddit here: https://www.reddit.com/r/kdenlive/, and a discord channel https://discord.com/channels/826062092171870268/826062092171870272
