Please forgive me if this subject has been covered. Tried to search but found no solution.

My problem is that the red box of Edit mode is gone. The button to turn it on is there but cannot be pushed. I have tried and downloaded several version of Kdenlive and it is the same: the button "Show/hide edit mode" is there but nothing happens. No red box that let me easily edit my effects. I even installed a new Linux version of a different distributions since I though it was distribution related.

Right now I am running Linux Mint 21 Cinnamon on a virtual-box virtual machine. I have tried all the Kdenlive versions from 17 and up to 22, but to no avail. The Edit mode stays switched off permanently - How is this possible?

Grateful for help, this is a deal breaker for me.

I use Linux. Everything seems to be normal for me.
But what exactly is this Edit mode button that does not work? If I knew exactly what you mean, I could tell you if it works for me.

Do you mean the Show/Hide Edit mode? When I click on it, nothing happens for me either. But I have never needed this function.

Dragging the red rectangle with the mouse doesn't work for me either.

Thanks for replying. Seems like its a Linux issue then. Its the red triangle i miss. It used to appear when I pressed "Show/hide edit mode" button. But now nothing happens.

The function cant be discontinued. Must be some sort of error. I will try the Windows version and see.

Very annoying though - it has been working well since very early versions of Kdenlive.

Do you need this function at all? If so, then you should report the bug. Can you do that?

Hello albertix,
I thank you for reporting the bug, because I still have a hard time with it, just because of the English language.
