Effect: Tranaparency or Brightness

Mon Jan 30, 2023 6:12 pm
Which effect is the right one to make the image (the video track) disappear via keyframe in between, i.e. to make it black.
I currently use Tranparency from Alpha.
You could also use Brightness.
Both work, but which one is better for this - or does it not matter at all?

Just drag the upper end corner back with your mouse pointer at wish? Is that what you mean?

In between? Make a cut. End of first back, and start of the next up?
Can be done on video, image, and even the soundclip.

Hello zolder,
I know your process and use it very often. But can you do it in the middle of the video? I need it for that. In the middle of the video I want the image to disappear and go black and then be able to reappear.
Just like you can do with audio with "Volume (keyframable)" loud and quiet or inaudible, when and where you want.

And: how do you manage to upload screenshot? That is very useful.

Use the Opacity setting in the Transform effect. Must be at the bottom to disappear or at least a black color clip below it.

The tip with Opacity works well. And I discover that there are many different possibilities.
Is there no right or wrong, are they all equally good? I just want, as I said, to make the video disappear temporarily, kyframable of course.

Like i said, if you make a cut (scissor tool) where you need it (where it needs to be fully gone). Then you can let it dissappear (fade out) on the end of the part for the cut, and appear (fade in) on the part after the cut.
You could even simply put the two parts somewhat out from each other to create a longer 'black' time.
IMO the most easiest way. But there are more roads leading to Rome. Choose the one which suits you best.
