Is it possible to like make markers while the song is playing? I want to basically be able to mark to a specific beat and so far it seems impossible to do because you can't make any type of edits while the song is playing. (I think it's called Timeline Markers) I know it's possible in Adobe Premiere but I really don't want to have to spend money when I have this nice free video editing tool to use.
Does that make sense? I hope so, lemme know. Thanks. |

It is possible to add markers to clips or guides to the timeline. Either through the menu or you could also assign a keyboard shortcut to them. However this will still open a dialog asking for the name. If I find some time I will try to find a solution for this. Maybe the dialog should not be shown (and a default name should be (current frame) chosen) when you try to do this during playback.

In Premiere, to add markers to the timeline while playing it, you just hit the ' * ' key on the numeric keypad.
This is really useful, for example, when you want to make quick cuts "to the beat". |

I added a "add marker/guide quickly" action in svn r4961. A marker will be added to the clip if the clip monitor is active otherwise a guide will be added to the timeline. The default shortcut is '*' but of course this can be changed.

tonylee, just drag and drop a clip from your Project clips list on the timeline.
Or, if you want to trim it first: Click on clip in Project clips, set in and out points in Clip window and then drag and drop the preview picture from the clip window into the timeline - this will place the selection between in and out point from the clip window in the timeline. |
