Best practice audio bit depth?

Mon Aug 25, 2014 9:45 am
Hi there,

I'm new to Kdenlive, but a long-term Ardour user. I do music tracks in Ardour which I then put together with Video in Kdenlive. Ardour can do good dithering to 16bit, but I usually use 24bit WAV files for interchange between tools.

What is the best practice for Kdenlive? At what bit depth is the internal audio processing done? How is the dithering to 16bit on rendering done?

Or, in other words: What would get me better audio quality, putting my tracks 16bit into Kdenlive, or 24bit?
