Just a detail, you don't need to 'paste [the audio] back into kdenlive', you can just do you thing i audacity and export it as the same name as before and it'll update in kdenlive

I wanted to ask you very carefully, if you, as a Linux user, do not also look at a video editor that can edit audio well. I am thinking of S....

Kdenlive does work as an audio editor. As long as it is not to high level. For that i'm happy with it.

Oh, that sounds very interesting. But, how do you do the exporting correctly? And how do you make the new (wav?) file automatically recognized by Kdenlive?
Is there a tutorial for this?

Does this work with the audio that is included in the mp4? I mean the original voice or other recording made with the camera? That is synchronous by nature.

You can even load the mp4 into audacity to only have the audio track. Then export as flac/ogg/mp3.
You can export the audio quicker if you render with the video tracks shut of (the eye button at front of each track).
And if it is one audio track in Kdenlive (so not parts), or want to edit seperate part(s), then you can do what Arkengheist said. Also a good option.

Just forgot one thing to tell about the Calf plugin packs.
The ladspa works in kdenlive. The visual plugins (in ardour) are LV2.
If you install both ardour will crash on the LV2's. Ardour only exept the LV2's if the ladspa's aren't there.

And as i said it's good to be done to edit audio within kdenlive. As long as you have good masters and some good plugin packs available at your service.
And i suggest to look into plugin packs. Search Synaptic-installer for 'ladspa plugin' and you will find many. Try which you like. That's how i found my favs.
Or search the web (to find lists as this one http://linux-sound.org/ladspa.html )

Eventually so many good packs to find. From simple up to very extended. To edit in DAW or Kdenlive.
It's all about (your personal) preferences and choices.

My fav choises and workflow. As i told you. [1*] I highly like and use Kdenlive for video w/ simple audio editing. And DAW for HQ audio and music.
Sometimes use openshot for simple video editing. And Audacity for simple (but HQ) audio editing.
And this in all posible combinations as needed for the best/easiest workflow for me 'at that moment'. Mostly [1*] ^-^
This does it for me.

Thank you very much for your efforts.

Yes, I can open my videos in Audacity and then output them as wav or mp3, no problem.
But how do you do what Arkengheist recommends? How to use the exportet Audio of Audacity directly in Kdenlive without having to sync it manually?

Arkenhgeist's trick is to work in the audio files within the Kdenlive project. Where you find those tracks is depending on the settings you choose once.

If you export a video with audio, that audio track will start exactly as where you video starts. Both at the beginning and they are synchronized.
This is the point where you can choose to start working the audio under the video-track in Ardour. Import that audio track. Import the video. Edit everything (full audio editing features!). Again export the audiotrack to put it under the videotrack in Kdenlive.

Example screenshot of how you then work. You see the video. The audio-tracks, to work on. With in this example a compressor, but that can be each feature DAW provides (edit, cut, lowpass, highpass, EQ, pitch shifting, autotune o) , reverb, ... many to much to mention all).
This can become as professional as you learn/reach to work with DAW/Ardour. And that can go up to pro HQ ;) As you can see (mid-left top) timing can go on the 100s of seconds. ^-^
Pro vid by kdenlive, with pro audio by DAW. Full Pro workflow! What does one needs or wants more? 8)

Yes, your description is well understood. A mix of Ardour and Kdenlive seems to be a good solution. And when I see the graphical Calf compressor, then desires are awakened.
Thanks for your efforts - I now have the pleasure to implement the findings.

Yep. Compressor in this example. But i could have choose any (calf) plugin i have, and that are many hundreds 8) ... https://calf-studio-gear.org#plugins

If i'm right (didn't try) you can also work with Kdenlive and Ardour/Audacity together over Jack. But that does not have my preference as both programs demand a lot from you computer, so when together even much more (aka to much?? Latency?) .... But is an option if i'm right.

No thanks. Give me a link sometimes, if something got ready this way. Would appreciate that ;D
Good luck and lot's of fun.

Hallo zolder
The contact with you pleases me. I can send you a link with pleasure. But be careful: My videos work almost only through the language. I see that you know some German. Maybe you understand enough.
https://tube.tchncs.de/c/videosophie/videos
The first video is made with Shotcut, the sound is not perfect yet. But I am in the process of understanding more and improving the sound further. The other videos are all made with Kdenlive. I have been using Kdenlive for more than a year now, since I left Windows and Vegas Pro.

But there is, if you can't understand my language well, a video that everyone can understand, here is the private link. "WER - 2018"
https://tube.tchncs.de/w/51jWUivX85ymoZR1YP6tWF

I hope not to overwhelm you too much with my stuff.
What are you doing? Is there anything to see from you too?

See you soon

;D ;D ;D
Niederlande, so nachbar. Viele deutcher auf feriën bei uns womit ich schon mein ganzes leben sprach und spreche.
Bin sogar mehrfach geschäftführer gewesen bei ein grossen deutschen firma.
Denke das ich Ihren deutsch schon vertehe ;D

I will look at it later (when time for it).

After quick view first tips. Better microphones (or setup) for start.
With compressor and equalizer i would get it better. Perhaps a de-esser? But that bad isn't the sound if i may say so.

Hallo zolder,
