Hi,
Since libmlt has been updated to version 5 (0.8.8.1) it is not possible to >download new render profiles< in kdenlive (version 0.9.6) via the settings menu. >download new project profiles< and >download new titles< is also unavailable, the only option working is >download new wipes<. Anything else in kdenlive is working fine. I could not find any reported bugs, so my question is: has anyone else had similar problems yet? |

I am fairly new to Kdenlive. I have version 0.9.6 running Linux Mint 13 KDE. When I attempt to download new render profiles the download graphic just spins...and spins... Hopefully someone will have a fix for this.

Hi tomdickerson!
Just read your reply. I am using Kubuntu 13.04 (but also tried Kubuntu 12.04 and 12.10). Kdenlive is running great except the bug (?) you described: endless spin when downloading new render profiles (same when downloading new project profiles or new titles). The problem occurred after updating MLT to version 5 (libmlt5, version 0.8.8-1). Before that I had installed Kdenlive 0.9.6 with libmlt++3 (version 0.8.8 ). Everything was working fine then. No problem when downloading new profiles. Unfortunately the old version of libmlt is not available any more. I could not find any reported bugs or any notes in the documentation concerning this issue, so I am wondering if the render profiles are just offline at the moment or if there is a technical problem in the current version. |

Hi Olive
It seems strange to me that there hasn't been any response to this issue. I see you posted this on July 11th. Is there another Kdenlive forum that we could seek a response from? I am in the process of learning Kdenlive and would certainly hope there is some kind of help available. Once I learn it I would also pay back the forum by helping others like I have on other sites dealing with videography and video editing on other systems. |

Hi there,
a while ago there were rendering profiles available at the kdenlive homepage. After updateing the homepage I cannot find them anymore and that might be the reason why the download from kdenlive fails. Cheers capslock |

Hi!
There are rendering profiles listed at: http://www.kdenlive.org/rendering-profiles These are just descriptions, no links to downloads. As stated there you need to install kdenlive version 0.7.3 or newer, so version 0.9.6 should be fine anyway. What seems strange to me is that I had I had a lot of these profiles already installed some weeks ago. The trouble started when MLT (which in my understanding is more ore less the multimedia core component of kdenlive) was updated to version 5 (libmlt5). Since then I cannot download new profiles. I don't know if this is just a coincidence. I haven't found any other forum yet discussing this topic. What I also tried was to create my own render profile, which is basically not very hard in kdenlive. You can create and edit render profiles in the render dialogue by clicking the page+ icon or the page/pencil icon. So I gave it a try by just copying and pasting parameters from the transcoding formats. It even worked, but the output showed a lot of blocking artefacts. I guess you need to be quite a command line pro or ffmpeg specialist to do that properly (set flags the right way etc.). As I am a normal user, this is just too tough for me, so I depend on the available profiles. If anybody has parameters for a good working DNxHD render profile please post. |

Hi!
Just tried another version of Kdenlive (0.9.6-2) on a knoppix 7.2 system, the >download new render profiles< dialogue shows the same error: >Could not not get hot new stuff poviders from file: http://kdenlive.org/data/rendersources.xml<. Looks as if we just have to be patient. Maybe there are some ongoing changes or possibly an update of Kdenlive on the way (hopefully, as in my opinion it is still the most serious and versatile video editor under Linux). Cheers olive |

Hi!
The kdenlive.org site seems to be down completely at the moment (under developement?), no profiles available. Fortunately I could get some DNxHD render profiles (PAL version only), wich are working great as intermediate, master and cross platform formats. You can quite easily create them in kdenlive by copying/pasting the parameters listed below. Just open the render dialogue, choose target (Lossless/HQ for instance) and press the >create new profile< button (+ icon). Paste the profile name (DNxHD 1920x1080p/25 120M - as an example) and set >ending< to mov (hope that is correct as I am using the German version of Kdenlive, could also be named >file extension< or similar), then simply paste the parameters of the render profile you have chosen (f=mov mlt_profile=atsc_1080p_25 vb=120M vcodec=dnxhd acodec=pcm_s16le ar=48000k ac=2 - as an example) into the >parameters< field. Then press >OK<, that's it. Your new profile should be listed in the render dialogue with a heart icon. Here is the list of DNxHD PAL (!) render profiles created by Zebulon: ====>> DNxHD 1920x1080p/25 36M f=mov mlt_profile=atsc_1080p_25 vb=36M vcodec=dnxhd acodec=pcm_s16le ar=48000k ac=2 ========================================================================== ====>> DNxHD 1920x1080p/25 120M f=mov mlt_profile=atsc_1080p_25 vb=120M vcodec=dnxhd acodec=pcm_s16le ar=48000k ac=2 ============================================================================ ====>> DNxHD 1920x1080p/25 185M f=mov mlt_profile=atsc_1080p_25 vb=185M vcodec=dnxhd acodec=pcm_s16le ar=48000k ac=2 =========================================================================== ====>> DNxHD 1920x1080i/50 120M f=mov mlt_profile=atsc_1080i_50 top=-1 flags=+ilme+ildct vb=120M vcodec=dnxhd acodec=pcm_s16le ar=48000k ac=2 ============================================================================================== ====>> DNxHD 1920x1080i/50 185M f=mov mlt_profile=atsc_1080i_50 top=-1 flags=+ilme+ildct vb=185M vcodec=dnxhd acodec=pcm_s16le ar=48000k ac=2 ============================================================================================== ====>> DNxHD 1280x720p/25 60M f=mov mlt_profile=atsc_720p_25 vb=60M vcodec=dnxhd acodec=pcm_s16le ar=48000k ac=2 ========================================================================= ====>> DNxHD 1280x720p/25 90M f=mov mlt_profile=atsc_720p_25 vb=90M vcodec=dnxhd acodec=pcm_s16le ar=48000k ac=2 ========================================================================= Good luck! olive |

I am also having the same trouble as everyone who posted here, unable to download anything but 'New Wipes' Seems they have not got it fixed yet and it's now May 2014. |
