Rendering widescreen flv

Tue Feb 16, 2010 9:38 am
Have a project which is setup as "DV/DVD Widescreen PAL" for creating DVDs, but would also like to create Flash (flv?) files so I can add all/part to websites.
Problem is, doesn't seem to matter what I do, I cannot get them to go widescreen. If I use any of the supplied formats for "File rendering/Flash", the files end up being 'narrow', and even if I create my own profile (eg: f=flv acodec=libmp3lame ab=128k ar=44100 vcodec=flv minrate=0 b=400k progressive=1 aspect=16:9) specifying the aspect ratio, this creates an even stranger output (very, very narrow...)
How can I create a suitable widescreen file?

Thanks, John.

Flash is stupid and does not understand pixel aspect ratio. Anamorphic widescreen (as selected by DV/DVD Widescreen PAL) uses non-square pixels and expects the output to support that. I tried some workarounds in the render dialog, but failed to get something working there. The only solution I found was to change the project setting profile to "1024x576" (probably too big for Flash) or "512x288".
