I have a Panasonic AG-DVX100 (DV tape)camera that outputs orginal/source only at res 768x576, and ratio 4:3 PAL - When I export/render the results are 'VERY' blocky, and not remotely good enough for YouTube. I have tried KDENLive Templates as 640x480 4:3 and 1280x720 16:19, in an attempt to closely match. Are there pixel settings that I am getting wrong, as I left as auto/default ? Am I going wrong at the dv ripping stage ? I have ripped to gigantic AVI 1&2 to try and preserve quality & the Mpeg for reasonable size. I have asked in FreeNode #kdenlive chat with no responses/traffic. I am new to ripping and editing. Any ideas where I could be going wrong ? Thanks so much for replies. |

I noticed a post about checking this. And this was my output:
sparxz@linux-wnz4:~> melt -query consumers --- consumers: - sdi - libdv - sdl - sdl_audio - sdl_preview - sdl_still - gtk2_preview - avformat |

It sounds like you might have an incompatibility between some library versions Kdenlive->MLT->FFmpeg. Try rendering to AVI DV and then using another program such WinFF, Handbrake, or Avidemux to transcode to something smaller for upload.

Hi.
Thanks for reply. Apart from Blocky, I also get audio without video. This is what I get when I try to install "ffmpeg" in YAST. #### YaST2 conflicts list - generated 2011-04-08 09:29:33 #### installed libav-0.6.201104021457git-0.pm.4.1.x86_64 obsoletes ffmpeg < 0.6.201104021457git-0.pm.4.1 provided by ffmpeg-0.6.201103092102git-1.pm.2.1.x86_64 [ ] do not install ffmpeg-0.6.201103092102git-1.pm.2.1.x86_64 [x] deinstallation of libav-0.6.201104021457git-0.pm.4.1.x86_64 #### YaST2 conflicts list END ### --------------------------------------- and ----------------------------------------------- #### YaST2 conflicts list - generated 2011-04-08 09:30:01 #### ffmpeg-0.6.201103092102git-1.pm.2.1.x86_64 requires libavcodec52 = 0.6.201103092102git-1.pm.2.1, but this requirement cannot be provided uninstallable providers: libavcodec52-0.6.201103092102git-1.pm.2.1.i586[http://packman.inode.at/suse/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/Essentials] libavcodec52-0.6.201103092102git-1.pm.2.1.x86_64[http://packman.inode.at/suse/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/Essentials] [ ] do not install ffmpeg-0.6.201103092102git-1.pm.2.1.x86_64 [ ] Following actions will be done: downgrade of libavcodec52-0.6.201104021457git-0.pm.4.1.x86_64 to libavcodec52-0.6.201103092102git-1.pm.2.1.x86_64 downgrade of libavfilter1-0.6.201104021457git-0.pm.4.1.x86_64 to libavfilter1-0.6.201103092102git-1.pm.2.1.x86_64 [ ] break ffmpeg by ignoring some of its dependencies #### YaST2 conflicts list END ### It would be grate to get KDENLive running, as I hope to use it frequently, and would like to use it for training others, in video editing.
