I have installed (Yast) Kdenlive 0.7.6 on Suse 11.2 and it works OK, just a few crashes now and then. My main problem is that when I render my video, none of the fonts appear. Also, the color red seems to be missing in the project monitor; although the colors do render correctly. I tried the Run Config Wizard and a fatal error appears: "MLT's SDL module not found. Please check your MLT."
I checked my installed software and both libSDL-1_2-0 and libSDL_image-1_2-0 are installed. What's the name of the MLT's SDL module that I have to install? I can't find anything related to MLT that has SDL in it. The fonts are not the problem because I've used them in previous versions of Kdenlive. Another problem I have is that I can't render the whole video, I have to break it up into smaller segments otherwise the renderer will crash. So I render in 3 pieces and put them together in DVD Wizard and it works OK, except for short blank gaps between the segments. Is this because my video is too large? Thanks, Waynevid |

I have now installed Mandriva 2010 and Kdenlive 0.7.6 from its package manager. However, I still have the same problem with the fonts not rendering as I did in Suse 11.2. Seems most of the composite transition does not render. The only exception is when I place a still image(reduced 50% in size) in a video clip using composite transition. This does render. Title clips and everything in them (fonts, images, rectangle, etc.) do not render. I've checked the config wizard and everything is OK; no red "X" or missing files.
Another thing, only certain formats render at all. Mpeg-2 and DVD do not render, Mpeg-4 and RawAVI do render. Does anyone know what's wrong? Thanks, Waynevid |

I found a workaround for my problem. Do not use Title Clip. Title Clip does not render fonts or images. Use bitmap fonts and add them as regular bitmaps with composite transition. It's a real hassle but it works.
This font rendering problem may have something to do with MLT or FFMPEG but without the necessary expertise, I can't do anything about it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Waynevid |
