Hi!
I'm uploading my videos to some stockvideo websites and in one of these they ask me to export the clips in "Quicktime Photojpeg or Motionjpeg A/B" or Quicktime H.264. The container must be a .mov. The videos have to be in high quality because the people will (hopefully!!) download and use them. I normally export with DNXHD export setting, but for them that's to big... So, what should I do? I look for a solution on the web but I couldn't find anything useful... Thank you very much, Luigi p.s. here's the link to the F.A.Q. page http://www.revostock.com/FAQ-Empty.html?faq_id=7&category_id=9 |

You can create your own render profiles and to help you can use an existing one as a base, so if you go into the render dialogue, choose h264, which will show a mp4 container, just press the little green plus icon and create a new profile based on that h264 one substituing the mp4 extension for mov & f=.mp4 to f=.mov. Save the profile under a new name like h264mov and render with that. :-)
btw what's the source video's you're using & camera? |

Hi yellow!
Well, I had tried already to create my own render profile, as you suggest, but the file that comes out hasn't a good quality (with a bitrate of 25000!), and it doesn't play smoothly at all on vlc. I will try to upload the DNXHD exported file and I hope they don't mind... The original files are h264, .mov, from a Canon 550d. I normally upload directly the file from the camera, but sometimes I have to take away the audio, or a little error, and that's why I work and export with kdenlive. My system is: Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz, Ram 4 GB, Linux 11.04 and a terrible Nvidia Ge Force 8600 GT. Thamk you for your help! gigidread |

Strange, works for me. :-) Can't see how changing the container would affect quality.
Just an aside, as you mention that you usually upload source camera files and that quality is poor, there will be an increase in contrast and colour shift probably from pinks to orange rendering Canon movs from kdenlive as ffmpeg treats the canon movs as yuvj420 by default and squeezes the luma into any other format including DNxHD so you'll not get the same appearance as the camera shot stuff. |

Actually the quality is the same between .mov and .mp4, it's just worst (or it looks like to me) respect the original footage... I think it's normal... That's why I normally export DNxHD...
And the second thing is really technical for me! I don't notice any difference, but maybe I'm wrong... Anyway, you can see some of the exported (DnxHD) file here: http://en.fotolia.com/p/203060373 (I hope I can post the link on the kdenlive forum... If it's not the case I'll remove it immediately!) |
