Hi,
sometimes I want to create a "DVD" from my 1080i files and I try to keep interlacing, so I click on "force interlaced" (something like this) but I always end up with a progressive scan. Can anybody shed some light on this or lead me to the right workflow? Thank you all. Ignazio |

Hi Ignazio,
Kdenlive does not have a field aware scaler, see here: http://www.kdenlive.org/forum/what-am-i-seeing#comment-13485 Cheers, Achim |

Thank you Achim,
crystal clear. So it cannot be done (yet). Greetings from Italy Ignazio |

To be honest I'm a bit scared of avisynth although I read a lot about its incredible power. But I'm glad to know that it can be done. I'm more familiar with Avidemux, do you know if it can be done with it?
Thanks so much for your reply. I'm going to read that thread. Ignazio |

Mplayer (Mencoder) appears to have an interlace-aware software scaler. I've never used it that way, but there is an option for interlaced scaling in the man page. Probably worth a try before hassling with wine/avisynth
Avidemux has a scaler ported from avisynth and a scaler ported from Mencoder, but in neither case is there an option in the configuration for preserving interlace. You could always try it and see if it works. My main problem with Avidemux is that it doesn't read many formats very well (including DNxHD). |

Thanks Drosky!
I'm going to take a look to mencoder scaling options too! Ignazio |
