Format for Arcon Titan 2010

Thu Aug 11, 2011 9:15 pm
Hi everybody ...

i have a little problem - and hope anybody can help me.

I have an arcon titan 2010 hdtv satreceiver with built in diskrecorder - just great.
AND im trieng to produce a slidshow from my last holidays, some pictures some video-snippets - nice and cool stuff. It seems everythings perfect - but there are my problems starting ... (the viedeo where made with 30fps)

if i use PAL 720p 25fps 2pass movie (force progressive or interlaced enabled) - and the videos look like slow motion
if i use PAL 720p 25fps movie (force progressive or interlaced enabled) - thame thing - the videos look like slow motion

Next problem - i can use my diskrecorder alos, to watch videos - because of that i want to use it to store my holiday-slideshow-video on the disk and watch it. Videos from the internet are working but my homemade videos not ...

The arcon manual shows

MPEG
Transport Stream: H.264 (MPEG 4 part 10, MPEG-4/AVC)
MPEG-II ISO/IEC 13818-2/11172-2
Profil Level: MPEG-4/AVC MP@L4, MPEG-MP@HL

Eingangsrate: Max. 15Mbit/s

Videoformate: 4:3 Letter Box, 4:3 PanScan, 16:9

Auflösung: 720x576i, 720x576p, 720x480i,
720x480p, 1280x720p, 1920x1080i

Audiodekodierung: Dolby AAC, AC-3, MPEG-1Layer 1,2,3

Audiomodus: Stereo/Mono/Dolby AC-3

Audio Abtastrate: 32KHz, 44.1KHz, 48KHz

So - which settings should i choose to get an HD (720p) with normal speed via arcon titan on my TV?

Thanks a lot - im really lost in the HD-world

Have you tried the H.264 profile? It uses an mp4 container, whether or not that's compatible with your player would need to try and see.

You might need to create a tweaked profile perhaps.

You can see if forcing the framerate of the clip in Clip Properties/Advanced helps out.

Thanks ...

@yellow: no i didn't try the H.264 profile - but i will ... You suggested "You might need to create a tweaked profile perhaps." This means i have to set up a MLT Profile combination - right? So i think its very similar to http://kdenlive.org/hdv-720-24p but i use 'Frame rate num' as 50 (or 25) - right?

@ddennedy: What do you mean with 'You can see if forcing the framerate of the clip in Clip Properties/Advanced helps out. ' do i have to force the framerate with a certain function? i thought i could do this by choosing the right 'export'-format?

Thanks a lot

The project setting does determine the output framerate, but your problem is the input framerate or libav's understanding of the source clip's framerate. Kdenlive allows you mix clips of varying framerate on the timeline. So, if something looks slow motion (and you did not apply that effect), it is not a problem in your project or render setting, it is a problem with the framerate of the input.
