Can't Get File Sized Reduced During Rendering With Youtube Recommendation [solved]
Thu Jun 18, 2009 1:59 am
Hi. I'm Trying to turn a video into something I can upload to youtube, which means less than 1 gig and an appropriate format.
In the user manual, it says: ------------- Use Kdenlive 0.7.1 as H.264 export is better. Refer to this document: http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=132460 These export profiles has been added to Kdenlive recently: YouTube 1290x720 2000k YouTube 640x480 800k ----------------- so I rendered using H.264, (200k - the first option) and what came out was a video of 1.3 gb. How can I shrink the file size down to something under 1 gig? Any help appreciated. Thanks, -Andrew |

Kdenlive 0.7.1 is deprecated. Please use Kdenlive 0.7.4 which will render with exact bitrates.

I'm using 0.7.3, which is the latest package available for ubtuntu, as far as I can tell. How can I get 0.7.4?

To reduce the size, you need to reduce one or more of:
1. movie duration 2. bitrate (thee 2000k part) - you can make a custom export profile from the existing one to change this. Look for b=2000k in the settings when doing so. Add " pass=2" to the settings to get better quality for your bitrate. 3. framerate in Project Settings - this will require a review of all edits in your movie 4. resolution (not recommended per YouTube recommendations) |
