I have been trying to figure out whats wrong with rendering for about a month now, used kdenlive 0.7.3 and 0.7.4 and 0.7.5 with the same issue, 0.7.5 is a lot more stable but still wont render in mp4, mpg, flv, xvid4, it will abort about 15% into a 3 minute project.
With flash it will freeze and dump me out of my session, older kdenlive vers did it with other formats as well. 0.7.5 just aborts no error msg even in console. Strange thing is open movie editor and pitivi do the same thing but with more freezing and crashing. I have noticed a few times 0.7.5 will dump me out of a session after it's been open for a while, but only sometimes. I'm useing ubuntu 9.04, 1gig ram, athlon xp3200+ so not fast but not to slow ether. I used the package mentioned here http://ppa.launchpad.net/sunab/ppa/ubuntu to install kdenlive. kdenlive is the best video editor I have seen so far in linux I really want it to work. Help from some guru's would be nice thanks. |

hi SamSmith,
you have a curious problem, it's true. What is your source video ? Can you reproduce your problem with one of these hdv samples http://www.poure.com/footage/canon/hv20/ ? ps : not any guru but a simple packager. |

This is confusing because you seem to mixing problems, not limiting your info to just your encoding failure. It sounds to me like you have a bad ffmpeg build.

This is what I was wondering, because it seems universal so it maby is a package that all these apps depend on. Sorry bout the delay getting back I was writing the results in the forum instead of in a txt doc then my sys crashed lol.
Results of a little testing. ------ clip hdv-1080-25p-004.m2t wont playback attemp1 mpeg-4 600k 2pass result: Rendering of /home/sam/kdenlive/untitled.mp4 crashed (no session crash, no % done) attemp2 mpeg-4 600k 2pass result: (%10 about done then crashed) [mpeg2video @ 0x8821420]ac-tex damaged at 55 31 [mpeg2video @ 0x8821420]Warning MVs not available attemp1 mpeg-2 600k 2pass result: consumer_avformat.c: error with video encode consumer_avformat.c: error with video encode [mpeg2video @ 0xa1e9e60]ac-tex damaged at 55 31 [mpeg2video @ 0xa1e9e60]Warning MVs not available attemp2 mpeg-2 600k 2pass result: session crashed at 10% I hope this helps the guru's and packagers alike, I can do more complex tests if you walk me through them. Alright I found out what was going on with the rendering always aborting. Ran memtest hmm... one of my mem sticks was bad, pulled it out (leaving me with 512mb) and now I can render an mpg without aborting! Yay one problem fixed. Now when I went to take a look at my new shinny video it was blank only sound no video, I hope this is an easier problem to fix.
Sam. P.S. kdenlive is THE best linux solution for video I have seen kudo's on the program ppls! |

Alright all is fixed all runs smooth as a super models legs, I had a faulty north bridge on my mother board, at least that's what I figure memtest was always giving me random sector fails and BOTH sticks of memory failed in similar ways, upgraded my comp (long overdue) then it ran without issue, I thought the video wasn't getting rendered properly because playback looked choppy/bad, was an issue with my (new ati) graphics drivers/xine, this got fixed by installing some new xorg/fglrx drivers for ubuntu jaunty.
On the xp side wmp kinda stinks so all is working (doesn't play mp4 and mpg is **** playback), kdenlive is a really kickass program kudos to the people working to liberate the computing world! Anyway check out my new vid :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8Z_2nTUyb8 its a honey bee swarm. Sam. |

I have the same problem with rendering aborting 75% of the way through the process using Jaunty on a HP 2140 mini (2GB Ram). Any suggestions? Video driver? ffmpeg?
