I just did a clean re-boot and installed Ultimate Edition, which had 0.7.7.1 pre installed, as many know.
Problem is, when I go to the render, and select the web, most are not available. The regular youtubes are (640x480), but not the 1280x720. Neither is most of the rest. It says unsupported aac audio codec if you hover on them. I noticed that the regular youtube ones have this in the script: "acodec=libmp3lame" and the rest have: "acodec=aac" So. What is the difference, obviously they are audio codecs, but can I just switch out aac with the libmp3lame and it should work no? How do I get the aac ones to work, or do I need to. Trying to make HD videos in high quality. |

AAC codec integration in FFmpeg versions were a problem in 2009 and now they are appearing in disto packages here in 2010. Um, I think you can use libmp3lame. Just try it, and see if works after you upload to YouTube. You can also render to Ogg Theora and upload that. You should choose a bitrate that is fairly high to retain quality, but also consider the upload time.

Thanks, I was unaware that you could upload .ogg to Youtube, I will give that a try, as I am having a very hard time rendering it out to a decent quality, even at very high bitrates.
I discovered today that if I render it out in lossless/HQ, the quality is great. However. The file size is 1.1 GB for an almost 11 min video (youtube allows it). I am OK with that, but for some reason when I start the upload, the applet youtube uses sees the file as being 1.8 GB in size. In every browser as well. So that is the problem with that. I will try the 720x480 .ogg 2 pass and see how it comes out. Thanks again. |
