Hi all,
I'm using 0.7.6 (the sunab binaries) on ubuntu as per: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/sunab/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main If I load a clip and preview it, the quality (when viewing at 100%) is somewhat degraded, but I take that to be the result of a speedup optimization. That may or may not be an issue, but the main thing is when I render to any of the outputs, I get very low quality output. Is there some combination of frame-size, fps, format and codecs that I *NEED* to use to get good outputs in kdenlive? I've attached 2 images; the 2nd shows a frame from the source clip, and the first from the output.. Is there any degradation/conversion of the clip when its loaded? I expect not, but wanted to ask. I've attached the ffmpeg params that I used.. f=mp4 acodec=libmp3lame ab=2000k ar=48000 ac=2 vcodec=mpeg4 qscale=1 qmin=1 aspect=%dar intra=1 s=800x600 |

try b=2000k instead of ab=2000k.
ab sets the audio bitrate to 2000k (very high, I'm not sure MP3 works at that high a level), video bitrate is left at the default which obviously is too low. |

Thanks - it seemed like that could be it.. so I picked the MPEG-4 25000K option when generating output
(f=mp4 acodec=libmp3lame ab=128k ar=44100 vcodec=mpeg4 minrate=0 b=25000k aspect=%dar mbd=2 trellis=1 mv4=1) However the video still looks just as degraded as before. Is there a logfile that might clue me in as to whats going on? note: Running ffmpeg directly (command line) gives me good quality output. It seems like no matter what set of parameters I pick, I get pretty much the same low quality video output - so I need some clues as to what I might look for in diagnosing the issue. ps: I build 0.7.7 (rev 4058) from the svn checkout - same issues. I am missing something very fundamental. I tried simply using a bitmap image clip - fading to black, and can confirm that it was just as bad. Frustrating, because I can see that kdenlive is so ready for use!! |

The last time I saw this happen, a libavcodec package was updated but not MLT for whatever reason. When MLT was rebuilt, it started working. Upgrading Kdenlive from SVN will not make a difference because it does not actually do the rendering.

Hi to all, this is my first post
...same problem here...no matter the settings i use for the export...always low video quality and big dimensions...using these same settings in FFmpeg get perfect video quality and small dimensions...what is the problem?? Kdenlive is an awesome piece of code but with this problem is still unusable... Gaito |
