I've used Kdenlive to burn many DVDs from .vob files created by rendering to DVD. Now I have a HD camera that produces .m2ts files. So this is new for me.
I rendered a short project consisting of several .m2ts clips to HDV NTSC 1080 60i. Seemed to work properly and I've got the 1.6G .m2t file on my hard disk. I tried to burn it to DVD using the DVD Wizard. After clicking "Create ISO file", there is a delay of a minute or so, then the message WARN: Partial sector read (1856 bytes); discarding data. STAT: VOBU 0 at 0MB, 1 PGCS DVDAuthor process crashed. Is there another way from within Kdenlive to author a DVD or Blu-Ray disk using the .m2t file created by Kdenlive? |

You cannot burn HD video onto a normal DVD.
And Blu-Ray disks are currently not supported by Kdenlive. So you might try to burn your m2t with a Blu-Ray disk creator. |

Actually, I think a number of Blu-ray players and other devices (computer or computer-like) can play HD from a DVD. In these cases, I think people just make a data disk with a .mpg or .mts or whatever file. I do not know the details. Maybe have a look on doom9.org or videohelp.com.

FYI and to confirm what ddennedy said:
I rendered several .m2ts files (produced by my Panasonic TM700) in Kdenlive to NTSC 1080 60i. It produced at 1.6g .m2t file. I burned that as data using k3b to a DVD. Put the DVD in our PS3 and the video played in beautiful HD. I think this will enable me to keep the entire workflow under Linux, and avoid using the Windows only "AE Writer HD 2.1" software that came with the camera. |
