Jittery video output from screen caps

I have screen caps produced by CamStudio that become jittery regardless of the output render format I choose. It seems there may be unnecessary de-interlacing going on. Some frames are perfectly clear while alternating frames are shifted slightly and blurry.

My test project is a VGA NTSC project (640x480 progressive). My test clip is a 640x480 encoded with the CamStudio lossless codec. This plays fine in mplayer without any jittering. I've tried various render profiles but I'm currently testing with FFV1 lossless. When I play either output format in mplayer the video jitters. Setting scanning to force progressive does not seem to make a difference.

I'm not sure if this is a rendering or input problem. It's hard to tell but it appears that the jittering may be present when I play in the clip monitor.

I've also tried converting the input clip to FFV1 using mencoder before loading into kdenlive. This does not appear to make a difference.

Any ideas?

This sounds to me like a problem related to MLT's field order normalization. I recently found and fixed a bug that was causing undesired field order correction when using the Crop effect. I kinda doubt this is your problem, and it is strange that converting the input to FFV1 makes a difference unless the clip indicated non-progressive and has altering top-field-first flags . It's just hard to say without having the source clip or the right sort of clip to scrutinize for a general problem. I assume you tested just placing a source clip with no effects on the timeline and then rendering that?

Yes, I tested by placing the source clip on the timeline with no effects or transitions.

Also, I converting the source to FFV1 using mencoder does NOT make a difference. The jittering is still there.

I can upload a short example test project, source files, and rendered output if there is some place to upload them.

Also, if it matters I am using Kdenlive 0.7.6 on Ubuntu Jaunty installed via the sunab ppa.

Right, "not" - I meant to include that but it slipped out.
Please file a bug and attach a file (max 20MB?) or upload it to somewhere (rapidshare.com) for download. Thanks. I should not need the project or rendered output.

Ok. I've reported this in issue 1335. http://www.kdenlive.org/mantis/view.php?id=1335
