Hi all
First time using kdenlive. Problem is that when I render it reports the rendering job complete (100%) but this happens immediately (ie time is 0:00:00) and there is no output file. Its as if the project does not contain any video tracks and it outputs nothing, not even an empty file. The video file is very simple - one 5 minute clip taken from the beginning of a single 14 min clip. The project screen looks like this prior to rendering - (not sure how to past a screenshot here, but the 5 min clip displays in track 0). Have fiddled around a bit and looked at the post entitled "No rendering at all" but no joy. I'm using ubuntu 9.04 and kdenlive 0.7.3. I tried generating a script and running that and got the following - ben@htpc:~$ /home/ben/kdenlive/scripts/script000 //STARTING RENDERING: false , false , "/usr/bin/melt" , "atsc_1080i_50" , "avformat" , "-" , "/home/ben/kdenlive/scripts/script000.sh.westley" , "/home/ben/kdenlive/scan01.avi" , () , ("acodec=libmp3lame", "ab=128k", "ar=44100", "vcodec=libxvid", "minrate=0", "b=200k", "aspect=@16/9", "mbd=2", "trellis=1", "mv4=1", "s=1920x1080") , -1 , -1 Started render process: "/usr/bin/melt" "/home/ben/kdenlive/scripts/script000.sh.westley -profile atsc_1080i_50 -consumer avformat:/home/ben/kdenlive/scan01.avi progress=1 acodec=libmp3lame ab=128k ar=44100 vcodec=libxvid minrate=0 b=200k aspect=@16/9 mbd=2 trellis=1 mv4=1 s=1920x1080" Rendering of "/home/ben/kdenlive/scan01.avi" finished ben@htpc:~$ Any help would be appreciated. Thanks belbo |

A couple things you could try:
-update to a newer version. 0.7.3 is getting a little old and the current 0.7.6 might fix things. look on this website to find a link to .deb packages for kdenlive and mlt. -don't use the "render to script", instead try "render to file", there is a bug report about it -try a different profile, try one of the DVD or mpeg-2 or mpeg-4 settings. -tell us more about the source file format. -try putting your video in track 1 ( i seem to remember some problem abut using track 0 in some older version) Hope this helps. |

Thanks for helping. Will try upgrading to a newer version. Only just earlier saw there is section on ubuntu versions on this site, recommending newer versions. (0.7.3 is simply the latest version in the ubuntu 9.04 repo, so I basically installed that by default not realising there were newer versions).
Had already tried some of the other suggestions (track 1, other formats, render to file). Hopefully new version alone or with combo of these suggestions sorts it. Will report back on outcome and post details of source format file if not resolved. Cheers |

Just to report back - upgrading to 0.7.6 solved the problem.
However, upgrading was problematic. I didn't note and can't remember the details but there were problems with dependencies (something-something-stripped, plus a whole series of sub dependencies) which prevented the new version from installing. Trying to remove or purge kdenlive or some of the dependencies resulted in a warning that half my installed software would also be uninstalled. Judging by the posts I googled, many others have had similar problems. I didn't find a consistent solution, but what worked for me was installing (something-something but not the stripped version). Then installed kdenlive 0.7.6 and all was roses somehow. Sorry for paucity of detail, but if anyone runs into the same problem they'll be able to follow. I'll update this if I recall further detail. |
