I'm experiencing a problem with melt while rendering. It freezes/stalls while rendering a project consisting of what I believe to be AVCHD video at 720p (taken with a Samsung HMX-H100). I'm trying to render it into an MPEG-2 10000k 2 pass, but the problem seems to exists no matter which MPEG-2 I choose. The format is PAL.
melt seems to go into an infinite loop, using 100% CPU and kdenlive just displays "72% estimated time 00:20:07", which doesn't ever change. File size on the output doesn't change, neither does access times. I'm using sunabs ppa (libmlt 0.5 and kdenlive 0.7.7 on ubuntu 9.10). Any input on how to get around this issue and/or to find out what exactly goes wrong is appreciated. |

Tracking down the one clip that was causing trouble and resizing it by a few frames made the problem go away. It is definately a bug somewhere, but at least now I know how to get around it.
The bug also exists in the preview windows. Playback stalls at the same point when viewing the project in the preview window. Again, a slight resizing of the particular clip made the problem go away. I would love to be helpful in tracking down the actual problem to help fix it. All I need to know is what to do and what information to dig out :) |

Hi!
I have the same problem on Ubuntu 9.04, kdenlive 0.7.7.1, melt 0.5, libmlt... 0.5 (sunab ppa packages). But only one instance: render to h.264 format (f=mp4 hq=1 acodec=aac ab=128k ar=48000 pix_fmt=yuv420p vcodec=libx264 minrate=0 b=4000k b_strategy=1 subcmp=2 cmp=2 coder=1 flags=+loop flags2=dct8x8 qmax=51 subq=7 qmin=10 qcomp=0.6 qdiff=4 trellis=1 aspect=%dar s=640x360) The rendering always stay on 99%, melt use 80-99% CPU and never finished. Other format (tested mpeg-4 2000k, flash 2000k) is never finished too. What is the solution? Thanx, Isix |

I am having the same problem on Fedora 11 with kdenlive 0.7.7.1. The clip I am trying to render is only about 1 min 20 sec in duration. Rendering always stalls at about 20%, which I think is around the point where the first transition is used (in case that's a clue). I've tried various formats and bitrates, but nothing seems to work.

I found the errors in kern.log:
"melt[5766]: segfault at 1a8a9160 ip b683b1fb sp b4b32da0 error 4 in libx264.so.76" My problem is solved. I have previously installed libx264-76, libx264-65 packages. Uninstall them (and dependencies), then reinstall kdenlive (and dependencies). Now i have other problem: http://www.kdenlive.org/forum/rendering-crashed-1#comment-8244 |

ledet's problem can only be looked into by filing a bug report and providing a sample video that exhibit's the problem.
For the others, see recently fixed memory leak: http://www.kdenlive.org/mantis/view.php?id=1197 Basically, this afflicts MLT 0.5.0 and 0.5.2 and occurs when the render resolution is different than the project setting resolution. |
