Rendered size is not correct

Sun Mar 07, 2010 1:58 pm
I've just discovered Kdenlive and am now in the process of finalising my first project ready to cut to DVD. However, I'm finding that the frame size of the vob file isn't correct.

I'm rendering from Kdenlive with the destination set to DVD and the format set to PAL. I'm expecting this to have a frame size of 720x576 but the actual size is 756x576 (measuring the size in gimp from a screen capture).

If I render to file and choose the Raw DV PAL 4:3 format, the size is as expected.

Taking the DV file from this test I then tried ffmpeg on the command line outputting to a .vob file and the frame size was still not as expected, it came out at 756x576. So, it appears to either be a problem with ffmpeg or a gap in my understanding of how ffmpeg works when outputting to a vob format.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I first noticed the problem after burning a resultant iso image to DVD, when playing the DVD I found I was missing some of the text I'd created (using text clips) along the lower, right and left hand sides of the screen. If I played the iso image (using vlc) all of the text, etc was there but the frame size was wrong.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Richard
