Hello all,

DVD Architect wants to re-encode everything I've tried so far from Kdenlive. Yet DVD Architect accepts files from Vegas without wanting to re-encode. I need it to not re-encode as this process takes ages.

Vegas makes an M2V file for video and a W64 file for audio.

DVD Architect claims the M2V file to have the following attributes:
Video: 1920x1080x32, 29.970fps, 00:01:09:15, MPEG-2

DVD Architect claims the W64 file to have the following attributes:
Audio: 48,000 Hz, 16 bit, Stereo, 00:01:09:14, Uncompressed

00:01:09:15 is the duration of my test video.

I can render from Kdenlive to Audio Only at 48000 KHz and DVD Architect accepts this file without having to re-encode.

However, I'm stuck on the video and don't know how to render from Kdenlive to something DVD Architect will not have to re-encode.

I've made MPEG-2 and H264 files that match 1920x1080x32, 29.970fps
but for some reason DVD Architect still thinks the files are not blu-ray compliant.

My system info:
OpenSUSE 11.4
Kdenlive 0.8.1 (rev 5945)
DVD Architect 5.0
Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11

Thank you very much,
Steve

You could render a mpeg2 transport stream, don't mux the audio in and feed DVD architect with seperate video and audio and let it mux them? I have no experience with Vegas or Architect but sounds like it doesn't want muxed sources?

You're right.

DVD Architect wants 2 files. One for video, and one for audio.
It will also take it as just one file, but that guarantees a re-encode. And it is verrrry ssssslloooooooooow.

I have successfully rendered the audio file from Kdenlive and used it in DVD Architect. No re-encode needed.

I'm having trouble with the video only file. I have already tried multiple variations of mpeg2 files. All without an audio channel, and all have to be re-encoded according to DVD Architect.

Here is a tip about something strange with DVD Architect:
When you make the blu-ray project, you only add the video file. As long as the audio file has the same name and is in the same directory, it will be automagically used. If you actually add the audio file to the project, you get a warning that the audio file is orphaned.

The interface is useable but strange. The above is the most weird thing I have found so far. Its best feature is the simulated remote control to test the project before you spend any time building the disk image.

I'm just trying out the evaluation version and so far I'm not impressed. I'd rather use a linux tool, but as far as I can tell, there are some high hurdles like writeable UDF 2.5, and the java menu system.

I don't want my world to be up ended. I don't want to use Vegas. I like Kdenlive, and it is bothersome that DVD Architect's answer in their manual is to just use the template in Vegas. Although the manual also says that it can be done without Vegas.

Hmmphhh!

I'll try some more formats, like Lossless FFV1, and Lossless HuffYUV

Update:
Lossless FFV1, and Lossless HuffYUV video files could not be added to the DVD Architect project.
