Hi,
I am in the process of migrating some ancient 8mm film onto DVD. I taped them with a camcorder spitting out some H.264 in 16:9, crop and rescale back to 720x576 using avidemux, exporting to mpeg2. Next, I need to assemble the material and author a DVD including menues. I loved the way 0.7.7.1+svn20100808 uses the timeline, and set markers for individual hollidays and events easily. But authoring the DVD seems a bit awkward, I'd have to write down the timestamps for the intended chapters, and use/type them after rendering in the DVD wizard to create corresponding menus. Are there any simpler alternatives for authoring the menus ? Either in kdenlive or alternative tools ? I am fine with text-only buttons in the menus. Yours, Steffen P.S.: I've seen these posts in this forum, but they didn't help: http://kdenlive.org/forum/export-dvd-set-chapter-spacing But "Add guide"/"DVD marker"/"New chapter" seems to be gone ? http://kdenlive.org/forum/insert-chapter (Unanswered) |

I also cannot find such a option. The problem is that the dvd wizard also supports importing video files not edited with kdenlive, so it does not know the related project, and thus has no knowledge about guides. The same goes for using other dvd author tools, the rendered clip does not include information about the guides.

Perhaps there could be a button next to the Add Chapter button, offering to import the current timeline markers as chapters?
It'd be necesary to check for the case when the current timeline content is longer than the imported DVD movie, though. |

It is possible to create DVD chapters. I added instructions to the manual:
