problem with video colors

Sat Jul 16, 2011 4:21 pm
I'm working on a game trailer, but no matter what project profile I try, when I try to render an image I always get wrong colors in the video.

This is the image in the project:

And this is the image while playing the video:

it seems the image is covered with a semi-transparent gray layer.

I tried to render the video using the profiles in the Lossless/HQ destination folder, but still I'm not satisfied of the video sharpness.

Any way to avoid that and get proper colors in my video?

Welcome to the wonderful world of colorspace transforms.

Most likely your source is RGB, that is already clamped to the 601/709 colorspace, but is being treated as full range RGB and is getting clamped down a second time somewhere. Or some similar type of incorrect color transforms.

In the project tree, right click on your source clip, and select "Clip Properties". Go to the "Advanced" tab and see if any of the "Force Color Space" or "Full Luma Range" options fixes your problem.

hey FishB8,
unfortunately that's a Title Clip and not a video/audio Clip, and I can't see any option like those for it.
If there's no other way to change these settings for Title Clips I have to assume this is a missing feature and there's nothing I can do now, but filling a bug report :-(

maybe I'm overlooking something, but that doesn't seem to be a solution.

Anyway, the final result is not too bad, at least on youtube, but I hope the developers will improve this a bit.
