Hi Everyone,
I'm new with kdenlive and video editing with linux... I'm from Italy and my english is not so good, so please be patient :-) So...I try to get a dvd using kdenlive and devede, but I don't reach a great result. The final dvd, is more a vhs then a dvd. I dont understand why. I start with an .avi (sharp minidv), then I edit with kdenlive (cut, add transitions ecc.) and export the timeline in dv-raw. So I add dv-raw to devede, to obtain the iso of my dvd. The result is not good. I've tryed all the options of devede (don't deinterlace, ecc.) but nothing change; Bitrate set to 8500 kbps. I've tryed to create directly a dvd with kdenlive, but I have the same result... I think my ffmpeg doesn't work well for some reasons...last, starting with the same .avi and doing video editing with windows xp & commercial software, no problem, dvd is ok. I use debian lenny 5.0, kdenlive 0.6.0-svn, FFmpeg version SVN-r13582. Someone can help/suggest me? Thank you, Manuel |

Could you please try upgrade to a newer version of Kdenlive? We are now at 0.7.8.
Your ffmpeg version is also quite outdated. |

After you export the timeline to Raw DV but before making the DVD how is the quality when viewed in a media player? If the quality is OK, then perhaps devede and the way it converts is the problem.

Hi ddennedy,
the quality is OK. In fact I made the final dvd with RAW DV created with kdenlive then pinnacle (to mpeg) + nero vision (menus+ video_TS). I also think (since my first test) that the problem is ffmpeg or mencoder... Bye, Manuel |

To upgrade to the newer kdenlive I have to upgrade to squeeze...and I'm not sure...
...so I downloaded debianlive usb, but kdenlive crashes when render :-( Now I'm trying to install 0.7.8 in my second pc, where I use slackware, but I have problem with libs... My "goal" is to get the same dvd quality, using kdenlive with my debian (or slackware is the same), as now I have with xp+pinn. Thank you ttill |
