Hello friends
I'm new to Kdenlive, and I really enjoyed the software. However, I've been having some problems with it. I was editing a video using AVI clips. Everything was working fine until the moment I tried to render the project. Kdenlive indeed rendered it, but one of the clips was not rendered as I wanted. I cut the last part of it, but the rendered project cut even more, and in the final video, the beginning of the clip, which had been cut in the project, appeared. I really don't understand what's happening. It only works fine when I render the project to MPEG format, but I want to render it to AVI. Thanks a lot. |

Alternative would be to render to a lossless format and then convert it to AVI. |

What lossless codec would you suggest? I'm looking for an uncompressed format I can convert my avchd files to. -> no i-frames, better editing-performance |

You will have to test yourself what works best. Personally I would atm prefer FFV1 (developed by ffmpeg guys if I'm correct) since from what I heared (regarding supported color spaces, compression, etc.) it seems to be pretty cool. But there are others as well. You can chose Lossless/HQ from the Rendering menu to see them. I did not do tests regarding CPU and space efficiency ;)

Thanks a lot!
I think I was just once more to blind to see the tree in the woods. I'm going to compare the FFV1 and the other codecs and will report the results for anyone who's interested in this matter. |

After spending half a day rendering my sourcefiles to different types of formats and codecs I decided for my personell project to work with a mpegeg stream. Rendering to avi files with the mpeg2video and libmp3lame codecs.
I decreased the GOP size to 5 for a better editing performance. Still the size of the file is good and small enough for me. 3 times bigger the the source (avchd) but much more comfortable for editing. |
