Yop there,
(after stop all non-useful program....) a small trick to render a bit faster, you can change the priority of your 'melt' process. Here is a way for a gnu/linux compliant system... -1-> open a terminal http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminal_emulator -2-> launch with some right the top command by something like "sudo top" (with adequate password) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superuser http://linux.die.net/man/1/top -3-> renice your process , hit 'n' key to call the 'renice' fonction from 'top' command -4-> the renice ask for the 'pid' (process identification) , number that you found under the top (of the top) list ... at the line of the melt 'COMMAND' at the colomn 'PID' for sure. -5-> the renice ask for the priority. one or two more things to know is that 'normal' priority process is 0 , higher is less priority, negative is higher priority ... (easy zunt it ?) , from 0 to -7 is high priority, from -8 is some more high priority (for example the sound driver is about -11) http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/Renice http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/Priority -6-> you can quit 'top' by 'q' key to save some time. seeya |
