REDCode

Wed Jan 19, 2011 3:14 pm
Hi Folks!

Is there anyone who has got experience with FFmpeg/kdenlive and REDs RAW-codec implementation.
I tried to play some clips generated with the RED One MX (I think it was REDCode36) using the vlc - which as I am informed uses ffmpeg for decoding.
-> It failed to play back the video

So I assume ffmpeg can't do this, so kdenlive won't either.
On the other hand I thought I had seen ffmpeg-support for this code somewhere on the www. Now I can't find anything related to this topic.

I would be gratefull for any hints on that issue for I am planning to do RED-Video editing some days ahead.

Is there a link to some redcode footage that we can download and play with? I don't know if any of the developers have had much access to the codec.

The easiest way to test FFmpeg compat is to use 'ffplay' on the commandline to try to play the file. Then, if play starts OK, click around on the window to see if it seems to be seeking OK.
