Audio only when using 2-pass H.264 rendering but fine with 1-pass

I have a pretty small HD720/25P movie that I intend to render to H.264, 18Mb/s, 2-pass.

When I use the above settings, rendering goes well during the first pass as I see the temporary file growing. Then when the 2nd pass terminates I end up with a very small file that only contains the soundtrack and no video track at all.

If now I use the exact same project but select 1-pass instead of 2-pass then the output file contains the video track. Here are my versions:
- Kdenlive SVN 5547

- mlt-git 20110423
- ffmpeg 20110330
- x264 20110327

same problem with Kdenlive 0.7.8-3 and mlt 0.7.0-3.

This HD720/25p project is composed by a mix of clips either HD720/50p, HD720/25p or HD1080/25p. Could that be related?

Thanks

I just did a test using melt with -verbose. This is using 20110420 of x264, ffmpeg, mlt, and kdenlive.

[libx264 @ 0x28fea90] Error: 2pass curve failed to converge
[libx264 @ 0x28fea90] target: 18000.00 kbit/s, expected: 9430.41 kbit/s, avg QP: 10.0017
[libx264 @ 0x28fea90] try reducing target bitrate or reducing qp_min (currently 10)

It still created a playable file with video, but maybe changing bitrate or qmin will help for you. We might need to adjust some encoding params in kdenlive for newer ffmpeg and x264 versions.
