I'm having the hardest time trying to get the audio to render correctly on my system. This is the first project for which I have used Kdenlive, so it is entirely possible that my problems are caused by user error.
I'm putting together a screen cast which was recorded at 1080p 24fps. The audio was recorded separately and then combined in Kdenlive. When I play it inside of Kdenlive everything works great. I run into problems however when I try to reder the output. The audio is either far to compressed, or the pitch is shifted. My goal is to render it out at the highest resolution possible, and then use the High Quality version to create several other lower rez versions with ffmpeg. When I use the default render settings for H.264 lossless fast (video) + AAC (Sound) or H.264 lossless slow (video) + AAC (Sound) the audio sounds really compressed, and distorted. If I play with the settings and change the audio codec to libfaac and the bit rate to 128k at a rate of 41000 it sounds like the pitch has shifted, and the audio is somewhat choppy. If I render the audio only as a wav, then the audio sounds fine. I compiled Kdenlive and all the dependencies from source, here is the information on what versions I am using: OS: Slackware 13.37 Kdenlive: 0.8.1 (rev. 5717) MLT melt 0.7.3 FFmpeg version 0.6.3, Copyright (c) 2000-2010 the FFmpeg developers built on Jun 18 2011 00:46:01 with gcc 4.5.2 configuration: --enable-nonfree --enable-avfilter --enable-avfilter-lavf --enable-x11grab --enable-gray --enable-small --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-libdc1394 --enable-libdirac --enable-libfaac --enable-libfaad --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libspeex --enable-libtheora --enable-libvorbis --enable-libx264 --enable-libvpx --enable-gpl --enable-libxvid --enable-postproc --enable-shared --disable-static --enable-pthreads --disable-debug --enable-version3 --mandir=/usr/man libavutil 50.15. 1 / 50.15. 1 libavcodec 52.72. 2 / 52.72. 2 libavformat 52.64. 2 / 52.64. 2 libavdevice 52. 2. 0 / 52. 2. 0 libavfilter 1.19. 0 / 1.19. 0 libswscale 0.11. 0 / 0.11. 0 libpostproc 51. 2. 0 / 51. 2. 0 Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated! Since you are doing lossless output, in your custom render profile try acodec=pcm_s16le for uncompressed audio.
