Hi, I'm using ubuntu 11.04 64bit, core2, latest kdenlive, ffmpeg etc.
I did quite a lot of cutting clips ON my camera (Panasonic HD-SD60) because i know how choppy and time consuming editing MTS clips in kdenlive can be for me. Besides I often have to cut clips and delete parts on my camera to get space back or because I'll forget bad parts that need cutting. Profile HD 1080p 50fps rendering to PAL mpeg2 @ 8000K for creating Dvds. The resulting mpg file is crisp quality (nice!) but I have just noticed that there are freezes on some of the clips and these were clips that I cut up on the camera! Like the picture freezes and the sound keeps playing. There are also some grey frame with large pixels at the start of some clips. It could be as many as half the clips I cut on camera, I couldn't check the whole video yet. So how can i get around this issue, as i think I will always need to edit clips on the camera (at least i have to for a clip that got 90% rubbish on it from the camera not pausing!) Any one else with such a problem? cheers BTW, although the mpeg2 video quality is v nice, it is not very welcome in DVD Styler, which takes a massive remuxing to put it into VOB files. What would be a better rendering/profile that would allow DVD Styler to work faster, if I didn't need such HQ mpg? |

If you render with Destination=DVD to VOB instead of generic MPEG-2 then maybe it does not need to remux. I can not explain why you are having the problems you reported, but you should try remuxing them to MKV (ffmpeg -i some.MTS -vcodec copy -acodec copy -sn some.mkv) or transcoding to DNxHD. Some people use proxy clips, but it will revert back to your source MTS files on render and you are back to where you were.
