Frame-accurate rendering?

Fri Dec 23, 2011 6:03 pm
Hi All,

I am transferring VHS to DVD and thought I'd give Kdenlive a try but it's driving me nuts - rendered output does not appear to match what I have selected for rendering and the first frame gets repeated, throwing all my DVD chapter points out.

I have worked out that the IN point needs to be set on the first wanted frame and the OUT point on the first unwanted frame (one more frame than I originally thought) to get the right duration.

As a test I created a new project, PAL DVD format, and added a single title clip with static text, one minute long, inserted on to the time-line. Render to PAL DVD format with a time-code overlay. Then add the result as a clip. The time-code on the first frame is 00:00:00.00 but the time-code on the second frame is also 00:00:00.00! The third frame has 00:00:00.01 and the last frame has 00:00:59.23.

Am I missing something?

I'm using Fedora 14 with kdenlive-0.8-1.fc14.x86_64 and mlt-0.7.4-1.fc14.x86_64 from the RPM Fusion repo.

Suggestions, fixes or work-arounds welcome,
