Hi yellow,

When you say "upgrading to 12.04" was that really an upgrade or a fresh install?

I've had so much trouble with upgrades in the past (well... twice actually) that I now do a fresh install every time.

Yes it was an upgrade, I haven't done a reinstall for many years on this machine, just upgrades. The 11.10 to 12.04 went smoothly, just reinstall of NVidia drivers to get up and running properly. I too have had problems with botched installs with Ubuntu, think it was the upgrade when they introduced Unity 11.04 possibly.

I've updated kdenlive-svn on a 32bit Ubuntu 11.10 laptop and all works ok, I'm now upgrading that to 12.04 too see if everything works after. :-)

guitarman, many many thanks, problem solved I can now encode again. Pleased you saw the thread. :-)

To whom it may concern....Tap plugins have been on my system for more than a year and I've encoded many many times in that space of time, so why now, why now do these plugins cause a problem and apart from that the project I've been desperate to encode for the last three days hasn't got an audio track, I'm adding it in the mux from Ardour later, my encode settings for the project didn't even have the encode audio tick box ticked. Audio shouldn't even have factored into the encoding, it plays alright on the time line, why not the encode?.

Just going to find a sound proofed room to vent! :-)

Hi yellow, Excellent news, glad your up and running again. Hope the "Venting" went well.

Thanks to guitarman, a very handy tip. I do not have the tap-plugins installed and now I wont be tempted.

Thanks normcross, yes I'm a bit hoarse. :-) Crazy how something so trivial can cause such a big problem. :-) Onwards and upwards. :-)

Bad luck LPK, what are your source files?

Which MLT version do you have? In my case all the problems solved an upgrade to MLT 0.8.0.
