Please check to see if you have a package similar in name to "qt-sapi" and if so, remove it. This is an accessibility plugin which has been known to cause crashes in all Qt based releases.

Thanks - now I am confussed about the new 13.04 installation so I tried to type qt-sapi inside synaptic to see if could find qt-sapi - but you say similar name so can find anything with this name. But I did find qt-at-sapi and removed this and YOU made me a very happy kdenlive user today again - this solved my problem now it can render again ! |

Not a problem. I was under the impression the qt-at-sapi issue had been corrected though - obviously it hasn't (The issue with it only affects Ubuntu derivate distributions).
