Questions about pixel aspect ratio

Fri Sep 06, 2013 7:23 pm
ffmpeg -i mysourcemovie.mp4
tells me:
Stream #0:0(eng): Video: mpeg4 (Simple Profile) (mp4v / 0x7634706D), yuv420p, 1120x600 [SAR 1:1 DAR 28:15]

ffmpeg -i myresultmovie.mp4
tells me:
Stream #0:0(und): Video: h264 (High) (avc1 / 0x31637661), yuv420p, 1120x600 [SAR 20:21 DAR 16:9],

and the resulting movie is about 54 pixel short horizontally in comparison to the original. QTX Movie Inspector reports 1066X600 actual.

I'm guessing it has to do with the pixel aspect ratio as shown by:
[SAR 1:1 DAR 28:15]
[SAR 20:21 DAR 16:9]

But I don't see where in KDEnLive I can control the resulting aspect ratio. My thought was that I could play with it and find a setting that made the result appear the same size as the original.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

thanks

You can force an aspect ratio on your source footage from Clips > Advanced properties
http://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual ... Properties
You can set up pixel aspect ratio in a Project Profile http://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual ... t_Profiles
And you also have the rescale option in the rendering dialog.
