DVD Authoring crashes

Wed Jan 01, 2014 3:48 pm
Hi,

I have recently installed kdenlive 0.9.7 on my Linux Mint 16 system.
Eventough kdenlive crashes once in a while, it is an awesome program.

Unfortunalety, I have the following problem:
I render a project to a DVD (.vob) file. Then I try to create an .iso-Image with the DVDauthor from kdenlive. However the DVDauthor crashes and gives me the following message:
"ERR: SCR moves backwards, remultiplex input: 50 < 8589934496"
Trying to create an iso-Image from the same .vob-file with DVD Styler results in the same error message.

I have searched the forum and googled quite a bit for this error message and have found some articles. However, I cannot apply any of the responses to my problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am also having the same issue with Linux Mint 14, kdenlive 0.97. I uninstalled, removed the sunab repository and reinstalled the standard kdenlive 0.92 and it has the same issue. Any help with this?

This week I was digitizing some old VHS video to put on a DVD for a friend and yes, I had the same problem. Thought it was just me but now I see there obviously is a problem. There were mutterings that it was ffmpeg but I have no idea.

Here is how I got over the problem but first you must have transcode installed:-

Open a terminal and navigate to where the .vob file is.
(assuming mpeg2 with ac3 audio stream)

Code:
tcextract -i myfilm.VOB -x mpeg2 > myfilm2.M2V

Code:
tcextract -i myfilm.VOB -x ac3 > myfilm2.AC3

Code:
mplex -f 8 -o myfilm2.VOB myfilm2.M2V myfilm2.AC3

Loaded the new vob into dvdwizard and it created the ISO ok.

This is only a workaround so we do need to find out where the problem is.

Update:

I moved my failed DVD project over to my beloved Ubuntu 10.10 installation which is still on my HD (sad am I) It's still got Kdenlive 8.3 on it. So, I rendered a new VOB file, created the ISO and burnt the DVD. Success all round!!!

Back here I'm using:-
Ububtu 12.04LTS
kdenlive 0.9.7+git20140226.937f547e-0ubuntu0~sunab~precise1
mlt 0.9.1+git20140226.427033a9-0ubuntu0~sunab~precise1

and my DVD projects fail to create ISOs

Houston......we have a problem.

Okay, apparently this had to do with the particular file I was trying to make into a DVD. Other files seem to work fine. I'll need to revisit this file and how it was created and rendered.

Strange this, I've just found out that the file that will not work on my 12.04LTS kdenlive installation creates a DVD fine using the latest kdenlive daily builds.
So, problem partly solved for me.
