I've been encoding a lot of my videos thus far in the H264 preset, under File Rendering, but because of the long upload time, and now VERY long processing time on YT, I did a test encode in the YT 720p preset.
And the quality SUCKED. Blocky, pixelly, yuck. I duplicated the preset, and ramped the bitrate from 2M to 6M, but still it looks like ****. I tried comparing the options used on the H264 preset to the YT preset, and they don't seem to be comparable. So has anyone made a preset that YT likes that doesn't look like ****? I mostly edit video game footage, if that makes any difference. |

Try this:
f=mp4 acodec=libmp3lame ab=160k ar=44100 ac=2 pix_fmt=yuv420p vcodec=libx264 minrate=0 b=5000k b_strategy=1 subcmp=2 cmp=2 coder=1 flags=+loop flags2=dct8x8 qmax=51 subq=7 qmin=10 qcomp=0.6 qdiff=4 trellis=1 aspect=%dar |

Well, I tried the Vimeo preset... But for some reason the output has a lot of screen tearing, even at 30fps. |

Does that replace the encoding options for the YT preset, or the h264? |

there were some pretty decent youtube render profiles that had been optimized giving pretty good quality and not too bad a file size, but since the Add new Render profiles and the other addons menus still dont work (is that over a year now) i dont know how or where to download them.
Im trying out the recomended settings in a previous post to see how it goes.
Create a new profile and put the above into the parameters box. The rendered file on my machine is very close to the original. The video i was editing was recorded on a GE dv1 1080p video recorder. its not the best camara. Fixed focus, and it saves in quicktime movie format so there is compression going on already. I find it to be a bit fuzzy in darker light. the original file was 99mb. though i did cut some pieces out the original video. the rendered file came out at 60mb. So if your looking in a much lower file size but still with good quality, it may not be the render profile your looking ffor. |
