How to choose render format?

Sun Apr 20, 2014 5:40 pm
Hello,

I am cutting videos from onlinetvrecorder and want to remove mostly commercials and beginning and end of the video. I have to admit I am a new user of kdenlive and if these issues have been discussed before, please give me either a pointer or some words to google for (which I tried, but without success).

I see two issues:

When using the onlinetvrecorder HQ format, e.g.

Code: Select all
$ avprobe Das_Dschungelbuch_14.04.18_20-15_rtl_90_TVOON_DE.mpg.HQ.avi
avprobe version 9.11-6:9.11-3+b2, Copyright (c) 2007-2013 the Libav developers
  built on Apr  6 2014 17:30:35 with gcc 4.8 (Debian 4.8.2-16)
[avi @ 0x9a0c680] max_analyze_duration reached
Input #0, avi, from '/home/rd/tmp.nobackup/Yakari/Das_Dschungelbuch_14.04.18_20-15_rtl_90_TVOON_DE.mpg.HQ.avi':
  Metadata:
    encoder         : Lavf54.17.100
  Duration: 01:45:48.57, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 1174 kb/s
    Stream #0.0: Video: h264 (High), yuv420p, 720x576 [PAR 64:45 DAR 16:9], 25 fps, 25 tbr, 25 tbn, 50 tbc
    Stream #0.1: Audio: mp3, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, s16p, 192 kb/s
# avprobe output

$

everything works fine, I am only puzzled when I need to choose a render format. I would be happy if kdenlive just would use the format of the source container and codes (?)

I am surprised that when I try to do the same with the HDTV format, e.g.

Code: Select all
$ avprobe Der_Grueffelo_10.12.24_10-40_zdf_30_TVOON_DE.mpg.HD.avi
avprobe version 9.11-6:9.11-3+b2, Copyright (c) 2007-2013 the Libav developers
  built on Apr  6 2014 17:30:35 with gcc 4.8 (Debian 4.8.2-16)
[avi @ 0x822d680] max_analyze_duration reached
Input #0, avi, from 'Der_Grueffelo_10.12.24_10-40_zdf_30_TVOON_DE.mpg.HD.avi':
  Metadata:
    encoder         : Lavf52.52.0
  Duration: 00:45:59.24, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 2401 kb/s
    Stream #0.0: Video: h264 (Main), yuv420p, 1280x720 [PAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 46.92 fps, 50 tbr, 50 tbn, 100 tbc
    Stream #0.1: Audio: mp3, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, s16p, 192 kb/s
[h264 @ 0x8234b00] Ignoring NAL unit 6 during extradata parsing
# avprobe output

$

When I try to "adjust the profile to current clip" I get

Code: Select all
Your clip does not match current project's profile.
No existing profile found to match the clip's properties.
Clip size: 1280x720
Fps: 46,9167

Isn't the format provided by onlinetvrecorder a pretty standard one?

Many thanks,
Rainer

Lots of different video formats. Looks like yours does not match any of the preloaded project profiles.
But you can create your own project profile. http://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual ... t_Profiles

Your avprobe results will tell you what you need to know to set up the profile

Thank you for your reply.

How do I find out the correct colorspace?

Thanks,

You can right click a clip in the kdenlive project tree and choose Clip Properties. The colourspace is listed in these properties.
