I've got Kdenlive 0.9.8 set up on an Ubuntu 14.04 server on EC2. I'm using VNC into an xcfce desktop. Kdenlive runs fine. I've generated scripts and can render from within Kdenlive as well as running the script from a command line terminal within the desktop.

However, when I try to execute the same script from ssh (same user), the I only get a partial render (white backgrounds and no titles). I'm trying to set this up so I can render without having to be in the desktop enviro.

The PATH var is the same in both shells, but the env vars are not the same. Is that what I'm missing? Anyone else have this issue?

If you supply the rendering process with access to a X environment, does that allow it to complete the rendering successfully?
Xvfb can be used to achieve this if necessary.

Thanks very much. While I haven't implemented xvfb or the newer xdummy, I was able through SSH to connect to a vncserver and that did the trick using DISPLAY =:X.
