I'm running on debian testing+unstable and had this issue during few days between two libav upgrades, fixed now (same for Ubuntu according to package tracker)

If you get desperate you could try building kdenlive yourself. Might help if the issue is with the version of Ubuntu you are using.
See https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manua ... rom_source Or you could try a daily build https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manua ... ily_builds since vpinon suggests that this defect has been fixed |

Humm still not good for me.
I have just added the Sunab git ppa (HERE), and upgraded my packages. But the issue is not gone. Vpinon, could you please a bit more specific on how you've managed to solve the problem ? Here the result given by my terminal for dpkg -s libav-tools, perhaps it helps :

I just ran a dist-upgrade without other sources than the distro ones.
I've seen on mlt-dev list something related to a change in recent libav* (just accepted in debian/ubuntu) and MLT needed patch+rebuild to be fully functionnal again. I don't know again which libav PPAs packages are built, maybe you should try without PPAs? |

just seen that fixed mlt package in debian is libmlt6 0.9.2-2 while utopic is stuck to 0.9.2-1 => will probably fail.
sunab PPA got updated yesterday regarding libav change, latest mlt is 0.9.3+git20141002 => try using it for upgrade now? |

Thanks Vpinon,
Updating seems to have fixed the issue. I am marking the thread as resolved. Thanks again for your help. |

I'm having the same issue.
14.10 and no audio rendering. What steps should I take to get any updates I need to resolve the problem. I'm not particularly expert but I'm willing to learn so please be very specific. |

Here's the output when I start Openshot from Terminal. It records an error at the end. It looks relevant to me.

this is a kdenlive forum not an open shot forum.

I had the same problem in both and simply forgot which I was posting in. I assume the issue in both was linked. However, I updated everything I could think of and one of them has solved the problem in Kdenlive and Openshot . A bit of a blunderbus approach but it's worked.
