I've never had render errors like this in two years of using Kdenlive almost everyday.

I rendered a 5min 30 video, with quite a lot of color correction, pan & zoom, and other effects, as well as titles and animated image sequences.
As I knew this would take a long time, I did it overnight, rendering a file to upload to vimeo (h264 .mp4 18000 kbit/s, audio 256 kbits, 2-pass). I also rendered an h264 Lossless version, so that if the client requires any small changes I can import the lossless version to my timeline, and insert any changes required before re-exporting it, without having to go through encoding all the effects etc again.

Both renders completed without reporting errors. But checking them, the video playback stuttered, paused and went white part-way through, and the audio cut out, only coming back in where the audio on track two starts, 20 seconds from the end of the video.

(Note that the error happens at different points in the two renders - lossy export shown above, lossless below)
The video, when it cut out, remained white for the duration of that shot, and then went back to normal when the next shot came in.

To solve my problem for this particular video I just imported the Lossless video to my project, muted its audio track and re-applied my Audio mix one track lower. I cut in the original shots to replace the two which had stopped/gone white, crossed my fingers and exported as h264 18Mbit.

This fix appears to have worked. Which is nice, but not a real solution - any idea what caused this? Would it have something to do with my settings/something I did, or should I file this as a bug?

I'm using Kdenlive 0.9.8 on Ubuntu 14.04 - Lenovo Thinkpad s440 (i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz × 4)

ah, hang on... it may be to do with the hard drive. The footage is all on an external drive, whereas the project file and my export destination are both in my home/kdenlive folder. I noticed today that that drive occasionally disconnects itself. I've never had this problem using any other drives, so I guess I won't be using this one for editing any more.

Still, it seems strange that kdenlive reported no error, right?
