Good morning,
I'm not sure if I'm in the right section for this question but here it goes. I'm a new user to linux in general, and consequently to kdenlive. I just began using it and have run into an issue right off the bat. During the install I selected my default video profile settings to 1080p 30 fps, which is usually the setting I use in my recordings. I imported a short video clip in mts format to test things out and begin practicing with the program, but kdenlive keeps wanting me to change my profile settings to 60 fps for this video. Is there a bug with this particular file format or is there a setting I need to change in order the kdenlive to recognize that this is a 30 fps video? Thanks for any help guys. Oh, almost forgot to mention, I'm using the program in Linux Lite, xfce desktop environment, if that makes any difference. |

Hi nromero,
it could be that your source material is 1080i (2x30 half frames) instead of 1080p (30 full frames), which would mean that you have 60 half frames per second, resulting in 30 full frames per second. If you run ffprobe <your-MTS-file> and check the output for "interlaced" or "progressive" you know exactly. Or post the result from ffprobe here. Cheers, Achim |

Ah, thank you Achim, I was wondering if it would be in interlacing issue, but I've been under the impression that my Canon Vixia video camera has been recording in 1080p all this time. I'll have to check into that when I get home this evening. Thanks for the reply.
Edit: I just checked my camera's manual online and I see now that I do have the setting at PF30 which is 30 fps progressive, but it is actually being recorded at 60i according to the note at the bottom of the page, so that answers my question. Thanks again. |
