Hi, I have a problem with recording using ffmpeg. Everytime I try to use it (I record only audio), it freezes and I need to kill the kdenlive. I have seen several posts about this problem but no fix.
The best, detailed discussion is here: http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.r ... .user/1389 . However as far as I understand, they didn't come to any conclusion. I want to have a way how to easily put audio into my video, that's awesome for replacing small parts of the commentaries. If somebody knows, it will really help me a lot (I am thinking about downgrading to Fedora 19 because of this). |

Are you talking about the feature described here https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual/CapturingAudio where you use record monitor in ffmpeg mode to record an audio track for comentary purposes?
I was involved in testing this feature and ironing out some bugs and it used to work https://bugs.kdenlive.org/view.php?id=2910 back on 0.9.4 version of Kdenlive. But I think it appears to be doing the same thing you see on my 0.9.10 version. Before you downgrade though you might like to try a "daily build" version of kdenlive. See installing from daily builds . There is a version of the daily build compiled for fedora. The daily builds contain the latest git versions of Kdenlive, MLT, Frei0r, FFmpeg and some other important libraries. You can test this packages without changing your system. Just download the package and extract it to a folder of your choice. And this version might fix some compatibility issues between kdnelive and ffmpeg - because it contains its own sandboxed version of ffmpeg. Edit: But I don't hold out much hope that a daily build will be any better because a recent git version I just compiled has this defect. So you might have to raise a bug in the mantis bug tracker. |

Hi ttguy,
the problem is not bound only to recording while watching the project. I cannot record with the FFmpeg at all. I start recording by pushing the record button but then everytime I click stop to save the output, kdenlive freezes. |

Same thing happens to me when I do this. You are trying to do screen capture right ? I suggest you use a different screen cap tool and then just edit the file produced in kdenlive. Eg Kazam Raise a defect at https://bugs.kdenlive.org/my_view_page.php |

i use simplescreenrecorder to record my screen, super simple software which uses either avconv or ffmpeg and it creates great, always in sync, audio/video files.

I do not use it for the screen capture but to easily put there a simple sound. For example, in kdenlive sometimes I realize the voice recording is bad/contains mistakes and I want to say the sentence again and easily replace the old one. This is just too complicated when using different programs to just catch the sound, because sometimes I need to record the voice 5 times just to be sure it really fits the place (sometimes too loud, different tempo etc.) and replace one sentence.
These daily builds do not contain my version of Fedora which is Fedora 20. Is there a way to download the old version of kdenlive for fedora 20? The version 0.9.6-3 available in the rpmfusion freezes also. BTW: Bug reported. |

The trouble you are going to have is that it is probably caused by a mixture of kdenlive version and ffmpeg version. I suspect the reason is it worked before is that we had kdenlive and ffmpeg in sync with what each of them do. And now either kdenlive or ffmpeg or both have changed. But exactly what combo of kdenlive and ffmepg is going to fix it is anybodys guess. Do we know what kdenlive and ffmpeg version you had on your previous fedora version?

Well, all I did was "sudo yum install kdenlive", so probably the most current one. They however probably differs in the versions.
However, there are 2 versions for ffmpeg and also for kdenlive in the rpmfusion for fedora. You gave me a hint to try all the combitinations. So I tried all (4), all freeze. |
