Codec issue

Tue Dec 30, 2014 12:45 pm
My camera produces streamed files, interlaced, 50 fps , 1440*1080
I could not find a way to produce a nice video from them, since direct editing in KDENLIVE of those stream constantly crashes the application.
Transcoding is an option, but there is no transcoding maintaining the size , reducing the fps to 25, and keeping the interlacing correct.
transcoding to .mov results in artifacts on horizontal borders and lines in the output; transcoding to mkv is always progressive.
What can I do do get good results; i.e. a good output mpg at 25fps , interlaced, 1920*1080?

look into using proxy clips. the documentation is pretty good. just read that, enable proxy clips so that when you do your editing, it auto transcodes your video into whatever proxy clips you choose, that's what you use to edit with, then when you're ready to render. it takes the cut info and edits into account, and encodes your final video using the raw video, not the proxy clips. good luck
